I was born in Slovakia, but live and work in Vienna as a freelance artist. I graduated (B.A.) from the Academy for Applied Arts in Bratislava in 2010 and received my Diploma (Mag.art.) from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 2014.
My work engages in a critical examination of fluid and changeable identity through drawing and experimental forms of performance, employing deconstruction and an ongoing quest to challenge boundaries. Rooted in autobiographical narratives, my practice is an obsessive desire of proportion and symmetry, reflecting the constant tension between self-identity and societal projections. At the heart of my work lies a commitment to resisting exclusion and confronting systemic racism, using unrest as a form of resistance. I interrogate the fluidity of identity within patriarchal frameworks, exploring the queer body’s existence across diverse physical and emotional experiences. In my work, I critically examine these overlaps and offer to rethink, act or imagine otherwise.
The paper is my skin, filled with muscles, bones, and organs folded on top of each other in a supposedly logical order that has been given to me. My body is a shape-shifting space. Here, I negotiate the dissolution of boundaries, norms, and binaries of a body that wants to live by its own rules. In the process, I dissect myself into many unique parts, so that I can constantly reconstruct myself anew.
